Tokmeh Couture is a fashion-inspired project where I designed modular ceramic buttons based on Iranian architectural motifs. The work expanded into branding, packaging, and fabric design, creating a complete design system that connects traditional craft with modern style.
Challenge
I had to learn ceramic-making from scratch while also designing a product that was both functional and visually meaningful. The challenge was to make small-scale objects that carried the weight of cultural storytelling.
Process
Sketched initial ideas and modeled them in
Rhino/Grasshopper
Made plaster molds, fired and glazed ceramic buttons
Designed bilingual branding and tessellated packaging that reinforced cultural identity
Mediums
Rhino + Grasshopper
PLA 3D printing
Ceramic mold-making, firing, and glazing
Branding and packaging design
Outcome
Ceramic Buttons – Modular pieces inspired by Iranian architectural motifs, designed and crafted through 3D modeling, mold-making, firing, and glazing.
Branding Assets – A bilingual identity with typography and tessellated patterns that reinforced the cultural narrative.
Packaging – Protective yet expressive packaging that highlighted the uniqueness of each button while telling the brand’s story.
Pattern Design – Visual motifs derived from the buttons and architectural inspiration, extended into graphic applications.
Textile Exploration – Tests of patterns and button integration on fabric, bridging the product into fashion contexts.
